FHP looks for Dodge Challenger in hit-and-run case
Jochem and his dog were struck Tuesday night, at about midnight, on Swift Road just south of Proctor Road. In the area of the collision, Swift Road has no bike lanes, though a sidewalk on the west side of the street is sometimes used by bicyclists. Investigators say Jochem was cycling in the left northbound lane of Swift Road, riding without a helmet or lights. The driver continued north on Swift Road, the FHP said. The front of a northbound car struck Jochem and his dog. A streetlight is west of where the accident happened, yet state troopers say the driver may have failed to see Jochem.
