anyone own a scott mountain bike?

Im thinking of buying a Scott aspect 50, has anyone had a mountain bike scott? advice?
Are they satisfied with Scotts it? and if im paying 250-300 is there gona be much difference in the quality of anybike?

I have a Contessa Scott, my partner has a voltage and my son Scott has been on and now has a scott reflex both of which he raced XC with some success.

The Riverside resident will ride his new bike in the Tour de Force 9/11 Memorial Bike Ride, a 300-mile trek from Ground Zero in Manhattan to the Pentagon to memorialize fallen police officers. In October 2007, Corona Police Officer Jeff Scott rode a Nishiki 21-speed mountain bike 750 miles from his home in Riverside to visit his father at his retirement home in Salina, Utah. Mountain bikes are not allowed in Scott's next big ride. "It's a bike like you would ride in the Tour de France," said Scott. The new bike has an aluminum frame and 27 gears. He estimates he reaches 25-30 mph when he has the bike in the 27th gear. "If you're going to race in Formula One, you're going to take a Ferrari. Scott still has the 12-year-old bicycle, which cost him $250. But the 50-year-old cop had to spring for a $1,100 Fuji bicycle for a special ride next month.

This seems odd to me, as it suggests an unfounded lack of confidence in its own products, which is definitely misplaced because the performance of the Scott Scale 60 2011 mountain bike is very impressive. Scott seems to put a lot more of its own-brand components onto bikes, which sit slightly lower down the scale than the very top of the line racers. It is light, lithe and easy to handle, which is something that can’t always be said about bikes three times this price....
